In recognition of the deep roots of health inequity, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) created the Health Equity Research and Policy web page to “…support members’ efforts and build their capacity to move their communities and our nation toward health equity…” The portal contains solution-focused research, updates on funding and training opportunities, and best-practices information. Available resources include:
- Toolkit: Communities, Social Justice and Academic Medical Centers. This resources was developed to help institutions and communities they serve to engage each other in the exploration of how clinical, research and educational missions can improve community health and close health and health care gaps. See the facilitator’s guide.
- New Health Equity Research Literature. Every two weeks, the AAMC posts a bibliography of newly published research articles that “describe efforts to detect, understand, or reduce/eliminate disparities in health and health care.”
- Health Equity Research Virtual Site. This collection of videos, articles, and presentations highlight four research projects at the UC Davis School of Medicine addressing health disparities. The goal is to develop similar collections about work being conducted at different institutions.
